De hoofdmoot van het programma (Berg, Barber en Ives) behoort tot het klassieke liederenrepertoire: bekend, geliefd en gewaardeerd bij een breed publiek.
René Samsons nieuwe werk is een cyclus van acht liederen op gedichten van de internationaal gevierde beeldend kunstenaar Asaph Ben-Menahem, Israëlisch-Nederlands net als contr-alt Noa Frenkel. Het unieke donkere timbre van haar stem brengt Bergs liederen tot klinken zoals hij bedoelde. Dat Hebreeuws haar moedertaal is, geeft de liederen van Samson eenzelfde zeldzame diepte.
